013 & 014 - 02 Persona 3 Ficlets
Meant to post these last night, but I fell asleep. Whoops!
I have to re-read DN Angel so I can write up that last ficlet. I can't believe how much of the series I forgot. XD
Title: School Sucks
Characters/Pairings: Aragaki Shinjiro + Sanada Akihiko
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Akihiko and Shinjiro ditch class together. (Original SEES Years)
Warnings: Language
Disclaimer: I don’t own anything from Persona 3; this is just for entertainment.
Akihiko itched his nose for the umpteenth time that afternoon; the Band-Aid was bothering him like hell. Ever since he joined the Boxing Club, his ‘senpai’ seem to have made it their goal to try and make him quit.
It won’t work; he’s going to get stronger just like he promised.
“It’s not gonna get better any faster if you keep scratching at it like that, Aki.”
Akihiko jumped when he heard the comment as he rounded the corner. He didn’t expect anyone to be wandering the halls at this time; class was still in session.
“I’ll scratch it if I want to, Shinji. What the hell are you doing here, anyway?” Akihiko countered in a gruff voice. He was still pissed at Shinjiro for laughing at him last night. It’s not like he asked to be punched in the fucking nose.
“I don’t have to answer that, but I could ask you the same thing.” Shinjiro droned out, walking up to stride alongside Akihiko. He ran a hand through his shaggy hair – it’s getting long, again.
“Tch, likewise.” Akihiko hunched down, making himself appear smaller than he already was.
“…you ditchin’?” It wasn’t supposed to be a question, it was obvious why Akihiko was out this far from his classroom. He had already passed two bathrooms so the excuse of “taking a piss” was out of the question.
“Shut up” Akihiko said, irritated.
“You’re ditchin’.” Shinjiro confirmed with a nod. He ignored the glare his comment received and shoved his hands in the pockets of his wrinkled uniform. They continued towards the school entrance. “Mitsuru will chew you out for this…”
Akihiko scoffed “What? And you won’t get yelled at? You’re ditching, too.”
“She doesn’t care if I ditch, anymore. She gave up on scolding me a long time ago. Just you – you’re supposed to be the responsible one, remember?”
Akihiko let a dry laugh escape. “Bullshit.”
“Damn right.” Shinjiro mimicked the laugh. “You? Responsible? My ass.”
“Shut the hell up, Shinji. You’re one to talk.” Akihiko grated out. Sometimes, he really wondered why he and Shinjiro remained friends for this long. Bastard…
Shinjiro began fingering some lint in his pocket and cast a wayward glance at the top of Akihiko’s grey hair. “No shit, Aki. I never once tried implying that I wasn’t irresponsible. You’d have to be a dumbass to believe that.”
Akihiko grumbled his agreement.
“Same goes for you; makes you wonder what the hell she’s thinkin’.” Shinjiro held one of the double doors open, motioning for Akihiko to go.
Akihiko stood rooted for a moment and scowled. “…you’re a bastard” he retaliated lowly.
“No, I’m hungry. The teacher was preaching to me during lunch about how I should take school more seriously and try to make an effort to attend more or some shit like that. She made me miss my lunch.” Shinjiro deliberately let the door fall closed on Akihiko’s heels to prove his irritation.
“And you’re showing that you took her words to heart by ditching now.”
“Her fault.” He reasoned in an uncaring tone.
Akihiko nodded. “Right…” He scratched at his nose again. “So, we going to Hagakure’s?”
“We? You hungry, too? Don’t you have that Boxing Club thing, later?” Shinjiro stopped to face Akihiko fully.
Akihiko stopped, too, and shrugged. “Cancelled. And I was studying at lunch. Exams are next week, remember?”
Shinjiro made a lazy gesture. “I don’t give a shit about that. Yeah, Hagakure.”
They began walking in the direction of the Port Island Station. “Why always ramen?” Akihiko inquired.
“…tastes better when ditching.” Was his simple explanation.

One thing Minato always anticipates at lunchtime is Kenji inviting him out for ramen at Hagakure after school.
Kenji was the first Social Link Minato had formed when he first moved out to Port Island – next to SEES, of course.
It was made into a habit for whenever there is a problem or just wanting to hang out, Hagakure Ramen was the place to go. Minato enjoys listening to Kenji’s detailed observations on the ramen’s rich aromas and subtle flavourings all while he idly slurps in noodle after noodle. He numbly nods to Kenji’s chattering to show his attentiveness as he ponders his response for when he’s asked for his opinion.
Minato notices how listening to Kenji, he picked up a similar sensitive tongue for the simple soup. He laughs at his revelation, but his humour does not last long.
Their Social Link had long been completed and the most Kenji ever says to him now is a reminder that they’ll always be friends and – in his own Kenji way – marvels his appreciation and respect for Minato. The same smile he always wears is still present, but the simple question ‘Hey dude, want to get ramen?’ is long gone.
This saddens Minato. It was their own little tradition and always brought a smile to his face.
Granted, Kenji’s ordeal with Emiri is done with, Minato almost wishes it wasn’t. If just to go to Hagakure with Kenji, one more time.
Minato slouches in his seat; the bell had rung and faded to a dull tremor in the hallways and student ears alike. He loosens his necktie in the warm September weather and moves to continue another Social Link for the day. Maybe Fortune.
Or he did until Kenji stands in front of his desk, equips his trademark smile coupled with a ‘Hey, man.’
Minato smiles back and returns the greeting.
His smiles widens to a grin at Kenji’s casual suggestion for hanging out and trying to make homemade ramen at his place.
Minato nods enthusiastically and gets up to join Kenji. His other Social Links can wait a day. They’re making a new tradition.

Its really sad when you max out a social link cause you and they dont really hang out after that, kinda makes it sound like they dont want to spend time with you anymore...
This made my day, thank you!

That or they leave. You kinda don't want to finish their Social Links in fear of if you get attached. Same happened with Akinari and Bebe.
Glad it made your day!

I absolutely adore Kenji. He was the first social link I maxed out, and I was kind of bummed I'd never be able to spend time with him again. So thank you for this fic. It's great to know other people get gushy about him too. 8D
