LOLOL! Quick 20 min. ficlet of Marauder!era Sirius/Remus. I was just hanging out when this idea just popped into my head and it had to be written.
I've never written for the HP fandom before so whoa. Feel free to scream at me if I totally butchered their characters. XD
Title: Beating the Heat
Characters/Pairings: Remus Lupin/Sirius Black
Rating: PG
Summary: It’s a hot afternoon and Sirius can’t stand the heat.
Warnings: No real warnings aside from if you know nothing of Sirius and Remus.
Disclaimer: I don’t own anything from Harry Potter; this is just for entertainment.
“It’s too bloody hot!”
Sirius Black flopped back on the grass, his arms spread-eagle and legs straightened out. His forehead is wet from perspiring and he could feel his collar beginning to dampen with sweat that was beginning to drip down. His entire body felt hot from beating sunrays and dry heat seeping through his robes.
“There’s a tree not too far off; why not go relax under there? Or you could always go back inside, Padfoot.” Was the murmured reply coming from right next to Sirius, where Remus Lupin sat reading one of his muggle-written novels.
Sirius just grumbled something incoherent to even himself and shifted. Unconsciously, his elbow bumped Remus’ to which made him lose his place and turn to stare at Sirius. He had a slight wetness upon his brow and his cheeks were dusted pink from the warmth, as well.
“Admit it, Moony. You think it’s hot, too!”
Remus shrugged, rolling his eyes. “Yeah, but complaining about it isn’t going to make you feel any better. You can still go find some shade or something.” Remus said, dryly, and turned back down to start his page over.
Sirius sat up abruptly; knocking Remus harder and almost making him drop his book all together. “I’m not banging on about it! How come you don’t want to move over where it’s cool, Moony? You can’t tell me that you enjoy hanging about in this blistering heat because that’s bollocks!” He retorted incredulously.
Sighing defeatedly, Remus marked his page and closed his novel.
“Of course not, but I get the best light for reading out here. I also didn’t force you out here; you just came along without my asking.”
“No, you didn’t. I came because I wanted to keep you company. Prongs and Wormtail are off by themselves, probably to see if Prongs’ll be able to invite Evans to Hogsmeade, again. And we both know how that’ll end up, so why bother joining along?”
Sirius gave an exaggerated sympathetic gesture. “It’s getting painful to watch, now.”
“Poor James”, Remus chuckled breathily.
“’Poor James’? I’m beginning to think it would’ve been better to go with him. I mean, bloody hell!” Sirius slumped back so his black hair could fall into his face, some sticking to his still-wet skin.
Remus just shook his head and laughed again. “Well, why not just do something to cool yourself down or keep busy rather than just saying how hot it is every chance you get?” He looked back down towards his book, slowly opening where his bookmark peeked out.
Considering the suggestion, Sirius stared at the brunet next to him out of the corner of his eye. He blinked and came to a decision.
Before Remus could even begin to try and reread the page he opened back to, Sirius moved swiftly and pressed his lips to Remus’.
Remus’s hazel eyes were wide open when Sirius pulled away and slumped back next to him. He stared at Sirius for a moment, licking his lips, before asking. “…and how was that supposed to cool you off?”
Sirius also ran his tongue over his upper lip and grinned cheekily. “It wasn’t, it just kept me busy for a bit.”
His grey eyes turned back to Remus with a look that had a certain underlying meaning to which Remus figured, immediately, that he’d never get back to his book.
